Hello All!

Today is officially the three week mark of my being at training camp! This past week has been one filled with laughter, tears, and sickness. I’m going to give a recap on pretty much each day…

MONDAY:

My team started a deep dive into Romans that we will be working through over the next couple of months. We made it to chapter 6 this week. When we read each chapter, we ask ourselves the questions “What does it mean?” and “How can I apply this to my life?” I love Romans and am so excited to be able to dive deeper into the meaning of it with my team. We had two sessions that day which are basically teachings on different topics. Our morning session was on a timeline of the Old Testament to help us when reading through it on our own. Our afternoon session was on whether or not the Bible is trustworthy. It was such a good teaching and offered some great scriptural evidence on proving that the Bible is indeed trustworthy.

TUESDAY:

I hadn’t been feeling the best for the past two weeks, so my team leader Ally took me to the urgent care. They were able to give me medicine to help me feel better and an inhaler because I was struggling to breathe. I got Starbucks and went to the Waffle House for breakfast with Ally. It was so good! After that we went back to base and joined in on worship which was a dance party. I love worship so much and was so glad I was able to participate in it. We had a big hike coming up that day as well. We packed up our tents and equipment that we needed and headed out for Mount Yonah! It was such a challenging hike for me, but my leader stayed with me the whole time making sure I didn’t pass out and used my inhaler when needed. The views were absolutely beautiful and made the whole hike worth it. I was in absolute awe of God’s creation and how beautiful and unique it is. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous that night and it was so much fun to watch it while sitting on a cliff. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner that night. It was so much fun going camping and sleeping out under the stars.

WEDNESDAY:

We got up early Wednesday morning at 7:45 to start the hike back down Mount Yonah. We were able to do it in 40 minutes which gave us time to go to Chick-fil-a! I was so excited to be able to have Chick-fil-a and have a Dr. Pepper. We got back in time to join in on worship which was very unique. We blindfolded ourselves as a practice of focusing solely on God and not others. I loved it and have been blindfolding myself each time we worship since. We started a series on spiritual warfare which was so full of amazing advice and scripture. We were given examples of spiritual warfare and were taught about the two kingdoms; Light and Dark. The message was basically that we can say no to the darkness and we have control over how much influence we let the world have on us. Later that night, all the girls in my squad were treated to ice cream with the CGA (Center for Global Action) girls. We got to talk to them about their experiences while on the race and how God worked in their lives. I had so much fun getting to talk to them and hear all about their time on the race.

THURSDAY:

Not much happened on Thursday, we continued our Romans study in our teams. We also continued our study on spiritual warfare. This time, we talked about the order of authority and who gives it to who. Like I said, not much happened that day.

FRIDAY:

Friday was such a fun day for me. We wrapped up our series on spiritual warfare and had a second session on Prayer. We prayed for 40 minutes on different topics and different people. We had a lot of free time after lunch until revival night. Revival night worship started at 8:30 and it was so filling! The theme was about the blood of Christ and how it’s only by the blood that we are free. They challenged us to either continue or start living our life knowing we’re only saved because of Jesus Christ’s blood. During the worship when we were singing Jesus Paid It All, I felt God speak to me. He told me that I am forgiven and made pure in His sight. He told me that I am indeed His daughter and that He has saved me and forgiven me for my past sins. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace come over me and I immediately knew it was Him talking to me.

SATURDAY:

Saturday morning we continued in our deep dive of Romans and had team time for three hours. We had lunch and then prepared to go to a park and lake for the afternoon. It was so nice to be out in a different form of nature and to be able to swim in the lake. It was nice and hot out, so it was the perfect lake day. On the way back, we stopped at a gas station and I got a tub of ice cream! It was so good and it hit the spot. We headed back to base and I stayed back instead of going to a derby race. Those of us that stayed back for the night watched a movie called Surfs Up! in the training center. After the movie was over I went and layed on a bench in the middle of circle drive to watch the stars. They were so beautiful and I even saw a shooting star! I was reminded of the promise God made to Abraham and how He used the stars as a representation of it. God’s creation is so amazing!

SUNDAY (today):

Today is the Sabbath for us and we had house church. I cleaned out my tent and did some wash. I’m planning to go take a nap after I’m done writing this blog and then just continue resting for the rest of the day! I hope you all enjoyed reading this blog and have a lovely week!

Blessings,

Emma
