Hello All!
These past two weeks here on the Adventures in Missions base have been so amazing! I’ve met so many incredible people here who are so in love with the Lord. It has been amazing to see how the Lord works not only in my life, but in the lives of those around me.
The first week was one that consisted of learning the routine of life on the base. It was a very hard adjustment going from having the comfort of family, friends, and familiarity, to knowing no one, sleeping in the woods, and not knowing what to expect. I had to learn how to wash my clothes using a bucket and a very small amount of laundry detergent. We are also only allowed to take showers when scheduled or we have to take bucket showers. When I first learned what a bucket shower was, I wanted no part of it. However, I quickly learned that I’d rather be clean than dirty and learned to love bucket showers. I can now say that I feel at home here and love the people who are going to be my family for the next 8 and half months.
Each day for the past two weeks have also consisted of intense training in order to prepare us for the field. Some days are different from others, but for the most part they look the same. My morning begins at 8:15 with personal devotions and time to spend with the Lord. We have breakfast at 9, chores at 9:30, and worship at 10. Worship has been so amazing everyday and is such a sweet way to worship and connect with the Lord. Following worship, we move into a session that could range from one hour to three hours. Each speaker that we have during a session is so passionate about what they are speaking on and are so focused on pouring into us , so that we may learn more about God and how to pour into others. Following a session, we may have meetings to discuss what was taught, or we go straight to lunch. We are given free time for an hour and a half and then move into another session. Some nights, we have dinner, do chores, and have squad/team bonding time, however, on Fridays, we have Revival Night Worship. The first week, we had Revival Night Worship on Friday which was so amazing and healing. I really felt the Lord working in my life and tearing down walls that I had built up. On Saturday night, we all had the opportunity to get baptized. While I did not get baptized again, I was overjoyed and excited to celebrate the re-baptism of so many of my squad mates. There have been so many amazing learning experiences here and I am forever grateful for this amazing opportunity.
I will continue to post blogs as my way of updating people and I hope you enjoyed this!
Blessings,
Emma
